Free Inside Specially Marked Boxes Vol. 2 - Willow’s Coin Trick!

In Volume 1, I explained (rather lengthily) how important cereal and cereal prizes were to me as a kid. In Volume 2, I introduce you to my personal cereal prize Holy Grail.

Popples are for boys, too.

Certain toys are for girls and certain toys are for boys. It's something that you just knew when you were a kid. You weren't trying to be sexist or stereotypical by thinking those things. It's just the way it was. For example, my female cousin had Dinobot Sludge and Boba Fett. Those were "boy" toys and I never understood why she had them (especially since I didn't have those particular figures myself). Popples on the other hand, for some reason, were most definitely "girl" toys.

Kenner's Star Wars Line - BEST. TOYS. EVER.

Of all the toys I owned growing up, the only ones that made it through my transition to adulthood were my Kenner Star Wars figures and vehicles. These were my absolute favorite toys. G. I. Joe, He-Man, Transformers and Ninja Turtles were all great but they were not crucial to my very identity in the way those Star Wars toys were. While everything else was donated to charity, sold at yard sales, or outright disappeared (I'm talking about you, rogue Starrior figure), my Star Wars toys stayed safely boxed away, always there when I needed them. They were THE toys that I thought of when I thought of my childhood.

Free Inside Specially Marked Boxes Vol. 1

I've often wondered if kids today can possibly have the same relationship with cereal that I did as a child. To me, cereal wasn't just food. It was brightly colored food that was just a step or two removed from being candy, often contained marshmallows, and came with FREE toys. FREE TOYS!

GoBots vs. Transformers Match #1: Screw Head vs. Nosecone

Which are better, GoBots or Transformers? I know the answer most would give and it's the same I would have given if you had asked 8-year old me. But as I said in my last post I've come to appreciate GoBots far more than I did as a kid.

Screw This!

There was a definite pecking order among the transforming robot toys of my childhood. Transformers were high class citizenry, GoBots were solidly second class and Convertors were at the bottom of the heap (I mean, they didn't even have a TV show). The GoBots in my childhood collection never got the same respect as even similarly-sized Transformers (Huffer and Seaspray were so much cooler than their Tonka counterparts).
